Digital Audio Workstation

The DAW is the heart of the studio. It is a PC based workstation built by MusicXPC. This company specializes in audio computers, and has maximized the potential of this machine. It has an Intel Core 2 Quad 9650 processor with 4 cores at 3Ghz and 4GB of RAM, and over 1TB of disk storage on 4 drives.

Our DAW software, described elsewhere on this site, allows an unlimited number of tracks. For tracking, latency is generally set at 6ms. Of course latency-free direct monitoring is also available, if desired.

We run Windows XP Professional SP3 for maximum software compatibility, as many programs have only limited compatibility with Vista at present.

Everything in the Studio is synchronized with Word Clock and SMPTE as these are the most stable synchronization methods.

RME Multiface II A/D and D/A Interfaces

The Studio has three RME Multiface II PCI interfaces. These each have 8 analog inputs that can function at any sampling rate from 44.1 to 192 kHz at 24 bit depth. In addition, they each have 8 ADAT inputs for a total of 16 I/O each. This gives the studio 48 simultaneous tracks of digital I/O capability.
